When Lauren Treat arrived in Corpus Christi four years ago, she found the perfect primary care physician.

On Tuesday, Treat was served at the newly opened Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Family Health Center. She had lab work done while her husband also saw a doctor in the same facility.

Treat has lupus and a spinal condition, so it was natural that she was concerned when her doctor said she was planning to leave Christus Spohn after her residency was complete in the summer.

"(Dr. Garcia) is wonderful, but I've already got a new (doctor) that she set me up with," Treat said. "Honestly, the only thing that would make (the facility) better would be a louder speaker (in the pharmacy area)."
