Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Foundation's President Cecilia Garcia Akers was a participant at the Texas State Historical Association's Annual Meeting, held in Corpus Christi,  TX on March 5, 2015.  Ms. Garcia-Akers topic was Dr. Hector P. Garcia as a Father,  Physician and Role Model. Many thanks for the invitation to speak at this historical event.

The Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Foundation traveled to the Rio Grande Valley this week and participated in several events.  The Organization of Women Executives of the Rio Grande Valley invited Cecilia Garcia Akers, Foundation President as the keynote speaker.  Ms. Garcia-Akers spoke about Dr. Hector P. Garcia, the Foundations recent work, and its future plans.  The Foundation also met with the City of Mercedes- City Manager, Richard Garcia regarding future projects with the Foundation and Dr. Garcia's hometown.  The Foundation is very excited about its future plans with the Rio Grande Valley.

Cecilia Garcia Akers is honored to be participating on March 5, 2015 as a panelist for the Texas State Historical Association on the topic BEYOND THE ICON: DR. HECTOR P. GARCIA AND THE MEXICAN AMERICAN CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT. She will be discussing Dr. Garcia as a Father, Physician, and Role Model. She will be sharing with some very distinguished historians for this topic.
