A state board recently voted to add instructional materials for courses focusing on black, Native American, Asian-American and Mexican-American history, but a local school already made the move to include new studies in its electives.

Coles High School & Education Center has fostered its inaugural Mexican-American history course for the past year.

On May 4, 2014, the Domingo Live Show celebrated its 50th Anniversary. The show was started by the late Domingo Pena. Dr. Garcia was a frequent guest on the show. Cecilia Garcia Akers and Jim Akers were present for this wonderful celebration.
