We are so proud of Jose Ayala, 1st year medical student from UTMB Galveston. Jose is from McAllen, TX and is the first recipient of the Hector P. Garcia, MD, Presidential Endowment.
We are certain when Jose graduates in 4 years, he will be the kind of physician that embodies Dr. Hector's spirit in the practice of medicine.
The Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Foundation is so pleased to present Jose with this award.  We are excited for his future and will continue to follow his career.
With your help, our fundraising efforts are not only paving the way for students like Jose but also a brighter future for our communities.

Don't let them erase our heroes!

Cecilia Garcia Akers and others testified against the removing of Dr. Hector and other Civil Rights Leaders from the  required the high school history curriculum at both the Senate and House hearing for SB3. Most were reinstated in the the bill. Bills that passed this session represent a direct threat to everything Dr. Hector believed in.

Help us keep Dr. Hector's message of Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity Alive!
