The naming of their first primary care facility after Dr. Hector P. Garcia is a tremendous honor for my family and his legacy.

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -A special luncheon kicked off Friday morning at the American Bank Center to honor Dr. Hector P. Garcia, who would have been turning 101 years old on Saturday if he were still alive.

The birthday luncheon is just one of several events that have been held throughout the week to honor the late civil rights leader's life. Over 400 people were in attendance, including some of the Kiii-TV team. A number of awards were also handed out to those who share the same values as Dr. Garcia.
